20D Coolant Drills: Deep-Hole Carbide Drilling Guide
July 13, 20266 phút đọcBởi Solid Carbide Direct / KYTOOLS

20D coolant drills are used when hole depth makes external coolant unreliable and chip evacuation becomes the main production risk.
20D coolant drills are internal coolant carbide drills designed for holes around twenty times the drill diameter. At this depth, the tool is no longer just a drill bit; it becomes a drilling system that depends on runout, pilot strategy, coolant pressure, chip shape, coating and machine stability.
20D coolant drill sourcing
What makes 20D drilling different
- External coolant cannot reliably reach the drill point.
- Small runout at the holder can become large error at depth.
- Chip packing can break the drill before tool wear is visible.
- A pilot hole or stable entry condition may be needed for long tools.
- Coolant filtration matters because small coolant holes can clog.
| RFQ item | Recommended detail | Why it matters |
|---|---|---|
| Diameter and depth | Exact diameter plus hole depth or depth ratio | Confirms whether 20D is enough or if 25D/custom length is needed. |
| Machine coolant | Pressure, flow and filtration | Determines whether chips can be flushed at full depth. |
| Entry condition | Pilot hole, guide bushing or direct entry | Controls straightness and tool survival. |
| Material | Grade and hardness | Drives coating, point geometry and feed recommendation. |
For 20D coolant drills, send diameter, hole depth, material, coolant pressure, pilot strategy and annual quantity. KYTOOLS will check standard availability or custom feasibility.
