A 3 flute coolant drill can improve guidance, hole finish and special-bottom drilling when the machine, coolant pressure and chip control are aligned.

3 flute coolant drills are solid carbide drills with internal coolant channels and three cutting edges instead of the more common two-flute layout. They are not the default choice for every hole, but they can be valuable when guidance, surface finish, bottom geometry or cycle stability matters more than maximum chip space.

  • Short to medium-depth production holes that need better guidance and finish.
